Funeral home workers found a man dead at a cemetery in Houston with a wound on his side Friday. Police are unsure whether the wound was caused by a gunshot or something else.
Staff at the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery found the dead man at around 7:30 a.m. local time Friday, Houston Police Department Det. Johnathan Smith told Houston’s KTRK-TV.
A post on X from the police suggested the man died from a gunshot wound, but no casings were found at the scene and now police are unsure as to the nature of the wound, according to Houston’s KHOU-TV.
“Right now, we don’t know if this was a gunshot wound. All we know is that he does appear to have a wound on his side,” Mr. Smith told KTRK-TV.
Police have not publicly identified the deceased, but officials indicated the victim was a Black man in his 20s or 30s, according to Houston’s KRIV-TV.
