A subcontractor working on maintenance at an AT&T facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead at the hospital after being electrocuted on the job Tuesday.

The 44-year-old Sturbridge, Massachusetts, man was working on an “emergency lighting conduit” at the time he was electrocuted, the Cambridge Police Department said in a release.

The man was found on the ground by first responders at around 8:30 a.m. before being taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police did not name the deceased.

The AT&T building is a switching center for phone calls.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of this contractor’s employee, and our thoughts are with this person’s family, friends and colleagues. We’re working closely with investigators and the contractor to determine what happened here,” AT&T told Boston ABC affiliate WCVB-TV.

Two investigations have been launched, one by the Cambridge police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, and one by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
