First responders airlifted a toddler in College Park, Maryland, with life-threatening injuries after he fell from an apartment complex balcony.
The 3-year-old fell from a sixth-floor balcony in the 9300 block of Cherry Hill Road at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department said on X. County fire officials didn’t say how he fell or provide a name.
“All I heard was like a lady scream, like a loud scream, and I looked down and I saw a kid lying down on the ground,” witness Mohammad Asadi told the Washington area’s WDVM-TV.
The U.S. Park Police flew the toddler to a hospital, where he was in critical condition, fire officials said.
“On behalf of the residents of Prince George’s County, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and let them know that our thoughts are with their son, the family and those affected by this unimaginable event. No family should ever have to experience such pain and fear, and as a community we stand with them during this incredibly difficult time,” Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy said on social media.
