New York City police on Sunday said they shot and killed a knife-wielding suspect who authorities accused of stabbing four of his relatives to death before he attacked officers.

Police said responding officers shot and killed Courtney Gordon, 38, after the suspect slashed both officers — one in the face, the other in the head — around 5 a.m. Sunday outside a home in the Far Rockaway neighborhood of Queens.

Both officers were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital later Sunday.

Authorities said three dead stabbing victims were discovered inside the house: a 12-year-old boy, a man in his 30s and a 44-year-old woman.

An 11-year-old girl and a 61-year-old woman were also found in the home suffering from serious stab wounds, according to police. Both were taken to the hospital, where the preteen girl died and the woman was listed in critical condition.

Authorities believe all the victims are related to Gordon.

Police said the suspect set a couch ablaze inside the house before his fatal confrontation with officers in the driveway, briefly delaying a search of the home.

“This scene was chaos — multiple victims, a house on fire and a madman on a rampage, on a mission,” Patrick Henry, president of the New York City Police Benevolent Association, said at a Sunday news conference.

Gordon was previously arrested in the Bronx for strangling someone during a domestic incident, police said.
