NextImg:Kamala Harris now more likely to win White House than Biden, oddsmakers say

Oddsmakers now give Vice President Kamala Harris a better chance of winning the White House than President Biden.

BetOnline, a political betting market, said Wednesday evening that Ms. Harris moved ahead of Mr. Biden after the president contracted the coronavirus and left the campaign trail earlier in the afternoon.

“Over the past few days, the odds had settled back into the position that President Biden would remain the Democratic nominee. And then COVID hit,” the oddsmaker said.

Mr. Biden still nips Ms. Harris in odds to be Democrats’ nominee, but the fact that he trails her in chances to reach the White House indicates that the betting market believes she would have a somewhat better chance against former President Donald Trump.

Ms. Harris’s odds at winning the White House are +425, which means a $100 bet would win a $425 payment. Mr. Biden’s odds are +575.

Mr. Trump’s odds are -275, which means a $275 bet would win $100.

In the Democratic nomination race, Mr. Biden’s odds are -115, down from -800 earlier Wednesday morning, BetOnline said.
