The Indiana judge assigned to the trial of Fox Sports broadcaster and former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has recused herself from the case.

Marion County Superior Court Judge Jennifer Prinz Harrison filed the order Tuesday to have the case reassigned randomly to a different major felony court, according to court records.

The records did not provide a reason why Judge Harrison felt she had to recuse herself.

Judge James B. Osborn is now presiding over the case. The trial begins on Dec. 11.

Mr. Sanchez, 38, is accused of attacking a man in an alley and getting into the other man’s truck behind an Indianapolis hotel on Oct. 4, leading 69-year-old Perry Tole to pepper-spray and stab Mr. Sanchez in self-defense.

Mr. Sanchez was hospitalized but recovered and was released from custody Sunday, according to the Associated Press.

The former quarterback was processed at the hospital by law enforcement before being allowed to leave Indiana, as Judge Harrison had ordered prior to her recusal.

Mr. Sanchez now faces charges of battery resulting in bodily injury, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, public intoxication that endangers the life of another, and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

Mr. Tole also filed a civil suit against Mr. Sanchez and his employer, Fox. Mr. Sanchez was in Indianapolis to call an Indianapolis Colts game for Fox on Oct. 5.

The former New York Jets quarterback did not appear on that broadcast, did not call any games for Fox on Sunday and is not slated to call any of Fox’s games this upcoming Sunday, according to Yahoo Sports.
