NextImg:Jamie Foxx reveals he suffered stroke that left him hospitalized with memory loss

In a new Netflix special, actor and comedian Jamie Foxx disclosed that he suffered a stroke from a brain bleed in 2023 that left him hospitalized and caused memory loss.

On the special, titled “What Had Happened Was…” as a nod to his explanation of the whole incident, Mr. Foxx, 56, said that at first, he thought his ailment was a headache.

“April 11, I was having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for Aspirin. I realized quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what … to do,” Mr. Foxx said according to Variety. He proceeded to lose consciousness before he could take the medicine.

Doctors at Atlanta’s Piedmont Hospital told his sister Deidra Dixon that Mr. Foxx was having “‘a brain bleed that has led to a stroke,’” according to Variety.

Mr. Foxx woke up from his coma in May 2023 unaware of why he was in a wheelchair and with no recollection of what had occurred, as he explained to a crowd of onlookers in Phoenix this summer.

“I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything,” Mr. Foxx said at the time.

On Instagram Monday, Mr. Foxx also offered thanks to his well-wishers, writing, “Personal thank you are in order. Just want to jump on and say thank you to everybody that prayed and now you get a chance to hear what it really was it’s a blessing to be in the position that I’m in to be able to tell you my story in my way.”
