Country singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress has canceled upcoming tour dates and is in rehab following a widely panned rendition of the national anthem earlier this week at the Home Run Derby.
Following a deluge of derision from the viewing public, including viral clips on social media showing Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm struggling not to laugh during the song, Ms. Andress admitted she was drunk while singing it.
“I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and the country I love so much for that rendition,” Ms. Andress wrote Tuesday on social media.
Ms. Andress, 32, was originally slated to perform in Nashville on Wednesday and in Denver on July 24, but both dates were canceled.
“Upcoming shows in Nashville and Denver have been canceled, and the venues are in touch with ticket buyers regarding refunds,” her representatives told the Associated Press.
She was also set to perform at the annual Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis on Aug. 3, according to the festival’s website and AP, but as of Thursday the only tour date listed on Ms. Andress’ website is an Oct. 4 performance at the Country Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland.
