Hyundai Motor America is recalling 61,000 vehicles this week after discovering issues with airbag deployment and ignition lock switches.
The airbag problem affects 49,000 vehicles experiencing possible chaffing under the front seat. According to the company’s filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the rubbing action can cause wiring to become damaged and prevent an airbag from deploying during a crash.
That recall affects some 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles.
Hyundail’s other recall involves 12,000 vehicles. Certain Hyundai Genesis Coupes manufactured from 2010-13 could have a faulty spring in the ignition lock switch. This could result in unintended vehicle movement if the parking brake isn’t applied.
The company previously recalled 20,000 Santa Fe cars this year over an issue with the rear parking camera.
