Hunter Biden’s former wife, Kathleen Buhle, testified Tuesday that she first learned of his drug use in July 2015, when she found a crack pipe “on an ashtray on the side porch of our home.”
She said she was “scared” about his drug use after he was kicked out of the Navy Reserve for testing positive for cocaine.
Ms. Buhle was married to Hunter Biden from 1993 to 2017 and they have three children together. She is testifying for the prosecution without an immunity agreement.
Prosecutors say that throughout 2018, Ms. Buhle would search Hunter Biden’s car because she didn’t want her children in a vehicle with drugs.
She found drug paraphernalia at least a dozen times, according to court documents.
Hunter Biden is accused of illegally buying a firearm in October 2018 by checking off a box stating that he was not a user of “unlawful substances.” Prosecutors say he was addicted to drugs at the time of the purchase.
