Hunter Biden on Thursday scoffed at first lady Melania Trump’s threat to sue him for $1 billion over “false” and “defamatory” comments tying her to Jeffrey Epstein.
“F—- that,” Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joseph R. Biden, said in an online Channel 5 show with Andrew Callaghan.
Hunter Biden said he wouldn’t bow to the “bullies” but would love to provide an online platform for President Trump and his wife to testify under oath about their relationship with Epstein.
“The fact of the matter is I don’t think these threats of a lawsuit add up to anything other than a designed distraction,” Mr. Biden said.
Ms. Trump is demanding that Hunter Biden retract and apologize for relaying claims Trump biographer Michael Wolff has made alleging that Epstein introduced Mr. Trump to his third wife.
“If you do not comply with the above by August 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EST, Mrs. Trump will be left with no alternative but to enforce her legal and equitable rights, all of which are expressly reserved and are not waived, including by filing legal action for over $1 Billion Dollars in damages,” Alejandro Brito, the attorney representing the first lady, said in an Aug. 6 letter, first reported by Fox News.
Mr. Trump has made it clear he’s no fan of Mr. Wolff’s work. In June, he called him a “third-rate” reporter who fabricates stories to sell books.
On Thursday, Hunter Biden stated that his comments don’t rise to the level of defamation and shouldn’t divert attention from the Epstein saga.
“The fact of the matter is this is about hundreds, if not over a thousand minors, children, who were raped by Jeffrey Epstein, and I don’t believe in guily by association alone, but the connections have become … so glaringly obvious that I think they are trying to use other things to distract,” he said. “I also think they are bullies.”
He said he would love for the Trumps to clarify their relationship with Epstein in a deposition.
“If the president and the first lady want to do that and all of the known associates around them at the time — whatever time that they met — I am more than happy to provide them the platform to do it,” he said.
During a recent appearance on “The Daily Beast Podcast,” Mr. Wolff, author of “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” said Ms. Trump was “very involved” in Mr. Trump’s relationship with Mr. Epstein.
“She’s introduced by a model agent, both of whom Trump and Epstein are involved with. She’s introduced to Trump that way,” Mr. Wolff said.
Hunter Biden ran with the same charge during another interview last month with Channel 5, saying it’s “beyond a doubt that [Mr. Trump] and Epstein were very close friends for a very long period of time.”
The ex-president’s son added, “They spent enormous time together … around young women. According to his biographer, Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania.”
