The National Republican Congressional Committee raised more than $12 million in May, in what they say is a committee record for the election-year month and outpaces its Democratic counterpart.
“Growing the majority is a team effort, and we smashed this fundraising record with the help of everyday Americans and our incredible leadership team,” Chairman Richard Hudson said in a statement. “Families don’t feel physically or financially secure with extreme Democrats running the country; they’re opening up their wallets to ensure there is no chance Democrats continue to wreak havoc on their daily lives next year.”
The committee said Thursday that the $12.6 million haul “bested” the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee by more than $732,000.
More than $1 million came from small-donor donations following the conviction of former President Donald Trump in his New York criminal hush money case, with 32% of donors being from people who had never previously given to the committee.
The committee also has $64.6 million cash on hand, and a cycle-to-date total of roughly $147 million.
The DCCC announced Tuesday that it raised $11.9 million in May. Although they were outraised in May by the Republicans, the Democrats have a higher cycle-to-date fundraising haul of $191 million. They have $78.8 million cash on hand.
