The basket of a hot air balloon plummeted onto U.S. Route 63 in Rochester, Minnesota, Wednesday after the balloon hit a power line.

The three people inside the basket made it out mostly unscathed, with two of them incurring “very minor injuries,” the Rochester Police Department posted on Facebook.

Preliminary information indicates that sometime before 6:50 p.m., the balloon was pushed into a power line by wind as it was trying to land. The basket then detached and fell, police said.

“Everyone is miraculously OK. They hung up on the power lines. There was some sparking going, with them hanging in the power lines in the basket. Eventually, the wire gave way, and the basket and they took a drop from that wire to the ground,” Rochester Fire Department Capt. Chad Kuhlman told local TV station KIMT.

The balloon was found a couple of miles away, police said. A brush fire sparked by the basket was put out by firefighters.

Police didn’t name the three people in the basket or the balloon’s owners.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
