NextImg:Harris strikes upbeat message in Scranton

Vice President Kamala Harris kept it positive Monday during a campaign stop in Scranton, Pennsylvania, amid her pre-Election Day blitz in the Keystone State.

The Scranton appearance was the first of four in battleground Pennsylvania. Later Monday she was to deliver remarks in Allentown and Pittsburgh before concluding with a concert and rally in Philadelphia.

In brief remarks in Scranton, the Democratic presidential nominee thanked her supporters and steered clear of criticizing her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump. Instead, she referred to him as “the other guy.”

Refraining from attacking Mr. Trump is part of Ms. Harris’ strategy to deliver positive messaging with less than 24 hours to go until Election Day.

“Know that we have a lot that we care about in common and we are optimistic about the future of our country and that we love our country,” she said. “That is what this fight is about.”

Ms. Harris later told the crowd that she’s been impressed with the people she’s met crisscrossing the country.

“We’re good. We really are. I go into rooms with people who seemingly have nothing in common and they have everything in common,” she said.

Ms. Harris is spending her final day campaigning focused on Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes. Polling aggregator FiveThirtyEight has the race tied there, while RealClearPolling has Mr. Trump leading by a third of a percentage point.
