NextImg:Harris campaign launches Fortnite map to help get out the vote

Vice President Kamala Harris has taken her campaign from the real world to video games with its own map on the game Fortnite, called “Freedom Town, USA.”

A video posted on the Team Kamala X page shows off the map with Megan Thee Stallion’s song, “Neva Play” featured in the background, a song that was played at a Harris rally in August.

The map features a big Statue of Liberty and political slogans like, “Promise of America,” and “Kamala.”

The Fortnite page on the Harris-Walz website directs visitors to put in their address and zip code to show them how they are able to vote.

The custom map is themed around Ms. Harris’s main campaign promises, including small business tax breaks and affordable housing, video game news outlet IGN reported. The map will have specialized audio cues, like “they’re eating the dogs, eating the cats,” a sound bite from former President Donald Trump, the GOP nominee.

The video game map could be seen as a way to appeal to younger voters, along with the niche group of voters who are gamers.

This comes after Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, played the game Madden NFL 25 with Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The game was streamed on the platform Twitch Sunday, while the two played and chatted about questions viewers sent in.

“Squad up, go vote,” the video says at the end.
