Google was called into question on Election Day when voters were seeing that a search for where to vote for “Harris” led to resources on where to vote, while searches on where to vote for “Trump” didn’t feature any map.

Tesla owner and X CEO Elon Musk pointed out the different search results for those with Vice President Kamala Harris’s last name and former President Donald Trump’s last name on X Tuesday, asking if others were seeing it too.

Google was quick to answer his post, explaining that the “where to vote” map is triggered when the name of a city is in the search. Harris is the name of a county in Texas.

Their post said the same was happening when the search included Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance’s last name, which is a county in North Carolina. Maps wouldn’t pop up for Mr. Trump’s last name or Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz’s last name, because they aren’t locations.

“Fix is coming. Note very few people actually search for voting places this way,” the post said.

Less than an hour later, Google updated on X that the problem was fixed.
