A group of four men have been indicted on 16 charges in a string of carjackings and other offenses that took place in the District and Maryland last winter.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said Wednesday that the group was behind four armed carjackings and an unarmed carjacking in Northwest D.C., an armed carjacking in Hyattsville, an armed carjacking in Reisterstown and an auto theft in Reisterstown.

The offenses took place from Dec. 12 through Feb. 27, prosecutors said.

The first suspect arrested, Gregory Giron, 20, of D.C.’s Crestwood neighborhood, also has been accused of another carjacking.

Mr. Giron was taken into custody by the Baltimore County Police Department on Feb. 28 following a pursuit, with law enforcement claiming that he had just carjacked the Toyota Corolla he was driving.

He has been in custody since.

The other three suspects were arrested over the past week.

Search warrants executed at the residences of the four suspects turned up cash, firearms, ammunition, imitation firearms and a bulletproof vest, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Elmer Bonilla, 22, was arrested Friday at his residence in D.C.’s Brightwood neighborhood. Christian Rodriguez, 19, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was also arrested Friday in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dylan Giron, 22, was arrested at a relative’s residence in Northwest D.C. on Monday.

Authorities neither said whether the two Girons are related nor provided the residence of the elder Mr. Giron.

The FBI’s Washington Field Office is continuing to investigate the carjackings with the assistance of local law enforcement.
