Police in New Port Richey, Florida, arrested a woman Thursday after responding to her home and finding her husband in critical condition from acid burns.
Chuanying He, 50, is accused of pouring acid on her sleeping husband and barricading their bedroom before calling 911, the New Port Richey Police Department said, according to Tampa’s WTVT.
First responders airlifted her husband, unnamed by police, for treatment for his severe chemical burns.
Ms. He told investigators that she used sulfuric acid to hurt her husband, reported Tampa’s WFLA-TV. The police visited the home previously for other domestic incidents.
“It does look like we have been out there numerous times for verbal domestic. It does not appear that any arrest was made. However, it does appear to be domestic issues at that residence,” New Port Richey Detective David Crowell told WFLA.
Ms. He and her husband were scheduled for a divorce hearing Friday, according to court records cited by WFLA.
Police took Ms. He into custody without further incident. She is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery resulting in serious bodily injury, according to Pasco News.
