Louisiana authorities arrested five people over the weekend and charged them with helping an inmate who escaped from New Orleans’ jail earlier this month.

Police have now arrested 12 people suspected of assisting the inmates at some point before, during or after they busted out of the Orleans Justice Center on May 16.

The suspected accomplices include jail employees, family members and current inmates who provided supplies for the escape. Five of the 10 fugitives who escaped from the jail remained at large Monday afternoon.

On Saturday, police arrested and charged Patricia Vanburen, 18, and Tyshanea Randolph, 27, with accessory after the fact for allegedly driving escapee Lenton Vanburen Jr. from Louisiana to a family member’s house in Magnolia, Mississippi.

Court documents said Lenton Vanburen’s sister, Lenika Vanburen, was also arrested Friday after she was accused of aiding his escape.

The filing said Lenton Vanburen Jr. called his two sisters the day before he broke out to tell them to meet outside the jail around 11:30 p.m. He also told his sisters to have his girlfriend, who wasn’t identified, get him a “clean” phone once he was on the outside.

Also on Saturday, Lenton Vanburen Sr., Emmitt Weber, Trevon Williams and Angel McKey faced a judge for their alleged roles in the escape.

Vanburen Sr., McKey and Weber were each at a home in New Orleans East that court documents said is where Vanburen Jr. stayed for several days after he broke out. Each is charged with accessory after the fact.

Williams, an inmate at the jail, is accused of giving the escapees a blanket and a shirt so they could scale the razor wire fence surrounding the facility. He also faces accessory after the fact charges.

Authorities are still searching for five of the 10 fugitives who forced their way into a cell, ripped off a toilet and made a makeshift opening in the wall to break out of the facility.

Those on the run — Vanburen Jr., Jermaine Donald, Antoine Massey, Derrick Groves and Leo Tate Sr. — are between the ages of 27 and 42. They had been jailed on charges ranging from weapons felonies and domestic abuse to murder.

Police have managed to capture escaped inmates Corey Boyd, Dkenan Dennis, Robert Moody, Kendell Myles and Gary Price. They are all being held at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.
