Sen. John Fetterman on Monday lampooned  House Speaker Mike Johnson’s effort to impeach President Biden.

“Oh no, please, please don’t! Impeachment!” the Pennsylvania Democrat said on CNN. “Oh, my God. That bad, bad man. It’s so scary. Oh, no!”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said he expects that a vote to launch a formal impeachment inquiry into Mr. Biden will happen as soon as next week.

House Republicans are looking to impeach Mr. Biden because they allege he’s involved in his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings and that Biden family members have received money from the deals. The investigation is led by Mr. Comer, Kentucky Republican.

Democrats have argued there is no evidence of Mr. Biden’s involvement.

Mr. Johnson, Louisiana Republican, has given his support to the impeachment inquiry, saying Congress “has a duty” to bring the issue to the floor.

“The evidence is so clear, you cannot look away,” he said on “Fox & Friends” Saturday. “The Constitution requires the House to follow the truth where it leads. We have a duty to do this. We cannot stop the process.”

Mr. Fetterman, on a serious note, said he’s “proud to stand with the president” and thinks he will win the 2024 election.

“But whatever a weirdo says about that, it’s like, go ahead!” he said about the impeachment inquiry, adding that nothing will be found to end Mr. Biden’s presidency.

Mr. Fetterman previously mocked the impeachment inquiry after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, California Republican, called for it in September.
