An ongoing winter storm throughout the D.C. area forced the federal government and local government offices to close Monday.
All federal offices in the District are closed Monday in light of the weather, but employees are expected to log on remotely to carry on with the workday.
Local government offices in the Virginia and Maryland suburbs are also closed Monday due to the weather.
That includes Fairfax County, Arlington County, Loudoun County, Prince William County and the City of Alexandria in Virginia, as well as Montgomery County and Prince George’s County in Maryland.
According to the National Weather Service’s most recent snow accumulations, the heaviest precipitation has taken place in Virginia, with cities such as Centreville and Manassas getting 7 inches of snow so far.
The District almost uniformly has seen 5 inches of snow. The weather gets more manageable up north to Baltimore, with the city and its suburbs seeing between 3 to 4 inches of snow.
