WILMINGTON, Del. — A former girlfriend of Hunter Biden who met him while working as a stripper testified Wednesday that the president’s son smoked crack cocaine “every 20 minutes” and gave drug dealers the access code to his bank account to supply his addiction.

Zoe Kestan told the court that she met Hunter Biden while she was working part-time at a gentleman’s club in New York in December 2017. She detailed their drug-fueled relationship for a federal jury, saying Hunter Biden failed at several attempts to get sober, including an experiment with frog venom.

She testified that Hunter Biden “would want to smoke crack as soon as he woke up.”

Ms. Kestan was a key witness for the prosecution on the second day of testimony in the federal criminal gun trial of Hunter Biden, 54, who is accused of lying on a gun application by checking a box stating that he was not an “unlawful user” of illegal substances.

She said she met Hunter Biden at the gentleman’s club more than six years ago as the club was about to close for the night. She was asked to perform a 30-minute private dance with another girl for him.

As Ms. Kestan told it, after about 10 minutes of small talk in the private room, Hunter Biden went over the balcony and began smoking something out of a pipe. She said she didn’t know what he was smoking or that he was Joe Biden’s son.

After the dance ended, she gave Hunter Biden her number, which kicked off a romantic relationship between the two.

A week after their encounter at the gentleman’s club, Ms. Kestan said she reconnected with him at the Soho Grand Hotel in Manhattan.

About 10-15 minutes after she arrived, Ms. Kestan said, she saw Hunter Biden smoke crack. He also offered her marijuana, but she did not say if she accepted. She said they began to hang out more frequently, repeatedly describing the first son as “charming” and “nice.”

As the relationship progressed, Hunter Biden’s crack use remained unabated. She testified that he was smoking crack “every 20 minutes” or so throughout the first week of their relationship in early 2018. At one point, he called her a “distraction” from crack.

Defense lawyers are trying to persuade the jury that Hunter Biden did not have an addiction to illegal drugs when he purchased the firearm in 2018, although he still had a drinking problem.

Ms. Kestan testified that Hunter Biden would ask her to get cash from ATMs for him to buy drugs by sending her temporary codes from Wells Fargo so he could make withdrawals without his debit card.

“He used cash for a lot of things,” she said. “I knew a good amount of it was for buying drugs.”

She also testified that he would use the same process to allow drug dealers to withdraw money from his account through the temporary codes.

Hunter Biden began talking about getting sober in 2018, saying he tried an experimental treatment in which the venom of a frog was applied to a person’s skin to get them to purge, she said.

Ms. Kestan said she was excited to see if it had worked because she had read it made you want to stop doing crack. But within 20 minutes of the treatment, he smoked crack in their New York hotel room, according to Ms. Kestan.

They then tried to book a trip to California because Hunter Biden thought he could get sober there, away from the pressures and stress of the East Coast, she said.

Ms. Kestan said she booked three flights to California, but Hunter Biden missed two of them. He finally caught the third flight and stayed at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

She testified that when she got to the hotel room, there were bottles of alcohol, drug paraphernalia, and food scattered around the room. She said Hunter Biden had two women in the room who would not leave.

Eventually, they left, but “a scary drug dealer” came over to sell Hunter Biden crack, she told the court.
