The last of eight rodeo bulls that escaped Sunday from a mall parking lot in North Attleborough, Massachusetts, was recaptured Monday night on a highway.
The eight bulls escaped their pens, crossed the Emerald Square Mall parking lot and jumped a fence at about 12:30 p.m. local time Sunday.
One bull was recaptured quickly, but six others fled toward some woods before getting stuck behind a residential fence in Attleboro, the North Attleboro Fire Department said in a news release. The six were caught at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
“They were just kind of lost, it seemed like. I think they were just scared. They went in the backyard, they literally stayed in the furthest corner. They just stood there until everyone else came,” witness Chris Mooney told independent Boston TV station WHDH-TV.
The last bull remained on the lam. On Monday, that bull was found on U.S. Route 1 according to Boston ABC affiliate WCVB-TV.
The New England Rodeo, which wasn’t the operator of the event that the bulls escaped from, helped bring them in.
“He is safe and happy to be back with his brothers! There was grain, hay and water waiting for him in the trailer! We did not hold the event or own the bulls but it takes a village to get them home safe,” the New England Rodeo posted on Facebook just before 8 p.m. Monday.
The one-day rodeo at the mall is now under investigation according to WCVB-TV.
