Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk indicated he would agree to appear on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” under certain conditions.

“I will do it if the show airs unedited,” Mr. Musk said Tuesday on X, which he owns. That came in response to a post arguing that he should appear on the satirical news program.

The show’s account on X welcomed the idea, writing Wednesday that it would “be delighted!”

Earlier this week, host Jon Stewart injured his hand after smashing a mug onto the desk during an impassioned rant regarding the work of the Department of Government Efficiency, which Mr. Musk is involved with as a special government employee.

Despite his outburst, Mr. Stewart said the government should run smoother.

“I want DOGE to work, I want better efficiencies, I want to get rid of the alphabet agencies that don’t do enough, make the Pentagon pass an audit, but we are DOGEing it in the wrong place if we want to really change the system,” Mr. Stewart said on Monday’s show.

Mr. Musk also referenced Mr. Stewart’s mishap, writing in a post late Tuesday that he “will send him some @DOGE merch to comfort him while he recovers from this injury.”

The tech mogul enjoys President Trump’s full support.

Mr. Trump asked rhetorically at Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, “Is anybody unhappy with Elon? If you are, well, throw them out of here.”
