NextImg:Drive-by shooting in Northeast D.C. leaves one dead

District of Columbia police on Monday said one man was killed and a teenage boy was wounded in a shooting after a group of suspects pulled up next to the victims’ car and opened fire.

Ramey Kyle, Metropolitan Police’s assistant chief of patrol in the southern part of the city, said the shooting took place around 3:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of Minnesota Avenue NE.

Chief Kyle said a man and a boy in his late teens were driving through the Deanwood neighborhood when the suspects drove up to the side of the car and shot at them.

The man, whose age wasn’t disclosed, died at the scene. The teen was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The chief said the victims in a Kia that was reported stolen out of Prince George’s County, Maryland, earlier Monday. He didn’t say if the shooting had any connection to the auto theft or if the victims were responsible for stealing the car.

Police said three Black males, wearing all black clothing, were inside the suspect vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Authorities said the suspects bailed out of their car and were last seen on Meade Street Northeast.
