


D.C. police arrested 12 people, including one on a kidnapping charge, after they found an injured man with broken zip ties on his arms and legs in a home.
Metropolitan Police Department officers found the man, who was suffering from injuries to his legs and back, after they entered the house in the 4000 block of Kansas Avenue Northwest at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday as they were assisting U.S. marshals in another case.
The man told officers he had been held against his will, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police detectives found that the man and the other 12 people had been there since Wednesday night. The suspects are accused of keeping the man at the residence, assaulting him repeatedly through the night and attempting to extort money from him.
Davon Patterson, 33, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with kidnapping.
The police didn’t say whether Mr. Patterson or anyone else involved in the alleged kidnapping was the suspect being sought by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Dominique Turner, 31, of no fixed address; Annette Hawkins, 41, of Northwest D.C.; Jermonte Crutchfield, 31, of Southeast, D.C.; Davina Johnson, 41, of Arlington, Virginia; Michael Davis, 39, of Northwest D.C.;, Kahlil Guy, 49, of Southeast D.C.lMoses Williams, 37, of Northwest D.C.; Danielle Gardner, 41, of Northwest D.C.; and Christopher Dixon, 38, of Northeast D.C. were arrested and charged with unlawful entry.
Megan Grimberg, 36, of Northwest D.C., was arrested and charged with unlawful entry and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, while Deshawn Botman, 56, of Northwest D.C., was arrested and charged with unlawful entry and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
Police didn’t say what drugs Ms. Grimberg is accused of having or Mr. Botman is accused of trying to distribute.
The investigation is continuing.
