A group of Los Angeles Chargers players and others traveling with the team got stuck in a hotel elevator Friday and had to be rescued by Dallas firefighters.

The Chargers are in Dallas to play the Cowboys in an NFL preseason game at 3 p.m. Saturday. At around 7:30 the night before, the elevator became inoperable, the L.A. team explained in a social media post.

About 15 people were in the elevator at the Westin Dallas Downtown, according to ABC affiliate WFAA. The elevator was caught in a shaft somewhere between the hotel’s third and 15th floors, Dallas Fire-Rescue told the TV station.

DFR personnel came to extricate the trapped people, lifted them one by one through a ceiling panel and placed them into a working, adjacent elevator.

“The Los Angeles Chargers thank Dallas Fire-Rescue for their quick response, professionalism and substantial efforts in ensuring everyone’s safety,” the NFL team said.

The Chargers didn’t say which of their players or traveling companions were stuck.
