President Trump on Sunday teased the idea of being open to supporting regime change in Iran following U.S. military strikes on three of its nuclear facilities.

“It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to Make IRAN Great Again, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change???” Mr. Trump said. “MIGA!!!”

The post on his Truth Social account came hours after Vice President J.D. Vance said the Trump administration “has been very clear that we don’t want a regime change” and does not want a protracted war with Iran.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated that point, saying the objective of the strike on the three nuclear sites was “to degrade” or “destroy” the nation’s “nuclear weaponization ambitions.”

“It was not an attack on Iran,” Mr. Rubio said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “It was not an attack on the Iranian people. This wasn’t a regime change move.”

Rep. Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican who has criticized Mr. Trump’s unilateral decision, panned the post.

“This is not America First folks,” Mr. Massie said.

Meanwhile, Israel has sent clear signals that it wants to topple the Iranian leadership.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told him over the phone Sunday that “this regime is not going to be tolerated by Israel.”

“He wanted me to urge the Iranian people to end this madness, take this regime down and have a better life for yourselves and be part of the region in a new and different way,” Mr. Graham said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Mr. Netanyahu also “wanted me to tell the American people, Israel is not going to live this way anymore,” the senator said.

“They’re not going to live under threat from Iran anymore,” he said.

Mr. Trump announced Saturday night that the U.S. military had carried out a strike on three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities.

“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” he said. “Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not. Future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier.”
