Four adults and one minor were fished out of the bay near Guanica, Puerto Rico, by the U.S. Coast Guard this week after their boat took on water and capsized.

Coast Guard Station San Juan watchstanders were notified about the boat at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and a helicopter arrived by 7:20 p.m. to help the people out of the water, the Coast Guard said in a release.

They were then taken to Mercedita International Airport in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and reunited with waiting family members. No injuries were reported.

The minor was a 4-year-old boy, according to Puerto Rican news outlet Metro. The Coast Guard didn’t identify any of the people it rescued.

A Puerto Rico Joint Forces of Rapid Action also tried to respond to the scene but was thwarted by a reef and shallow water close to the shoreline. Coast Guard officials credited life jackets with keeping the rescuees alive while waiting for help.

“The success of the mission was largely due to the individuals having proper flotation devices, which aided our ability to perform an effective rescue,” Lt. Luke Dewhirst, a helicopter commander at Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen, said in the release.
