Snack-food brand Cheetos is selling off an orange dust-coated snack puff on eBay in homage to a banana that sold at auction last week for more than $6 million.

The banana, part of an art piece by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan titled “Comedian,” was sold to cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun at Sotheby’s last Wednesday.

The puffy-style Cheeto, uploaded to eBay by the snack brand under an account named after mascot “Chester Cheetah,” has a current high bid of $1,325, with bidding set to end Thursday evening.

Cheetos described the puff as its own artwork, “‘Mischief’ by Chester Cheetah,” in the lot description on eBay.

The winner, Cheetos said on social media, will win the Cheeto puff, the duct tape and a supply of Cheetos snacks equivalent to the winning bid.

As for “Comedian,” Mr. Sun plans to eat the banana involved and will replace it with another banana, according to Reuters news agency.

“It represents a cultural phenomenon that bridges the worlds of art, memes, and the cryptocurrency community. I believe this piece will inspire more thought and discussion in the future and will become a part of history,” Mr. Sun said of the taped banana, according to Reuters.
