NextImg:Capital One customers still reporting outage issues, but bank sees progress

A Capital One service disruption that began Thursday due to a power outage suffered by a third-party vendor continued Saturday, but the bank says it’s making headway.

Customers reported issues with their deposits and with accessing their accounts and balances, ultimately caused by problems with Fidelity National Information Services, which provides technical support and help to multiple banks.

“We have made substantial progress in resolving our third-party vendor issue with FIS. We have restored full account functionality and processed outstanding transactions for most of our customers, and are completing work to restore full service to all of our customers as soon as possible,” a Capital One spokesperson told The Washington Times Saturday.

On Friday morning, 3,991 people reported issues with Capital One’s website and app on the outage report website Downdetector. Saturday’s high mark has been 1,220 people reporting problems at 10:26 a.m.

The vast majority of customers, 95%, are experiencing deposit issues according to Downdetector.

“We recognize the frustration this issue has caused and will continue to provide updates. We sincerely apologize to our valued customers,” the Capital One spokesperson said.
