Rangers found two campers dead at a remote campground in Isle Royale National Park on Lake Superior in Michigan.

Isle Royale rangers received two reports about the dead campers on Sunday. The next day, two rangers trekked 11 miles inland and found the deceased, IRNP said Tuesday.

Park officials didn’t identify the dead campers or specify their cause of death. The national park, which consists of Isle Royale and hundreds of smaller, surrounding islands, is accessible only by ferry, seaplane or a private boat.

Park officials are investigating, and FBI personnel have also responded to the scene.

“I can confirm that members from the FBI in Michigan were present in Isle Royale National Park, located [in] the northwestern region of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula,” FBI Detroit Field Office spokesman Jordan Hall told MLive.com.
