Police in Northern California arrested and charged a man Saturday after authorities said he randomly punched two elderly men — and stopped to pose for a photo after one of the attacks.
Campbell police said they booked Nicholas Hosteter, 25, on charges of elder abuse and battery on an officer Saturday after law enforcement had the suspect’s parents help officers bring Mr. Hosteter into custody. Police said the battery charge stemmed from the suspect kicking an officer while being arrested.
Mr. Hosteter is accused of punching a 75-year-old man in the face Friday around 11:25 a.m.
“When the victim and his family returned to the area to look for surveillance cameras, they encountered the suspect again, who attempted to fight the family before leaving,” police said in a news release.
The first incident took place May 4, when Mr. Hosteter punched a man, again at random, police said.
Authorities said the suspect began to flee but did stop to pose for a photo before darting off.
