Caitlin Clark continues to spike interest in the WNBA. The cheapest tickets to see her play in her first playoff game cost more than the cheapest tickets to see the entire 2023 WNBA Finals.
The Indiana Fever rookie point guard will make her playoff debut on the road against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. The cheapest ticket for the game costs $133, online ticket marketplace TickPick posted on X Friday.
By comparison, TickPick pointed out, the cheapest tickets to see all four games of the WNBA finals between the New York Liberty and the eventual back-to-back champion Las Vegas Aces who won 3-1 would have only set someone back a total of $131.
The Sun are no slouches, holding the active consecutive playoff appearance record in the WNBA at eight straight seasons.
Clark’s superstardom, however, shines even brighter — the Fever’s season finale against the Washington Mystics played in front of a crowd of 20,711 at Capital One Arena in D.C.’s Chinatown, a league record for live attendance according to The Associated Press.
The record was made possible by a change in venue; as Capital One Arena is the home of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the Mystics usually play at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in southeast D.C.
The rookie’s minutes were limited because the Fever had already cemented their place as the 6th seed, and the Fever ended up falling to the Mystics 92-91, putting them at an even .500 record for the regular season.
