As Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow led his team to a Monday night road victory over the Dallas Cowboys, there was a break-in at his house in Anderson Township, Ohio.
The break-in happened just after 8 p.m., the game’s approximate kick-off time, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office told Cincinnati Fox affiliate WXIX-TV and other local stations.
Local law enforcement received multiple calls about the incident.
The mother of an unnamed woman staying in the house while Mr. Burrow was in Texas, told 911 dispatchers that “someone is trying to break into the house right now.
“My daughter is there. This is Joe Burrow’s house. She is staying there. He’s at the football game. She’s wondering what she should do, if she should be hiding, or if she should go outside,” the woman said, according to Cincinnati NBC affiliate WLWT-TV.
The woman herself also called 911 and was heard on the call talking to a security officer working a shift at the house Monday.
The unnamed woman inside the house told dispatchers that the bedroom was “completely messed up” according to ABC affiliate WCPO-TV, and law enforcement personnel said over the radio that it had been “ransacked” according to WLWT-TV.
Last month, the NFL sent out a security alert to the NFL Player’s Association and to its teams about criminals targeting the homes of players after the residences of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were burglarized.
