A British Airways flight attendant was found naked and dancing in a lavatory on a flight from San Francisco to London, with another airline employee accusing him of being on drugs.
The flight took place on May 25, according to the Sun, with the unnamed flight attendant in question missing food and drink service on the long flight. A supervisor subsequently found him naked and dancing in the business class lavatory.
The cabin crew called a Metropolitan Police Service unit based at London’s Heathrow Airport at around 9:32 a.m. local time to report concern for the 41-year-old man, the police told the Independent newspaper in a statement.
Once the plane landed, police “arrested the man after he received medical attention. He was arrested on suspicion of being unfit for duty. He has since been released under investigation,” MPS told The Independent.
The flight attendant has been suspended, British Airways told the San Francisco Chronicle. There were a total of 470 people, including passengers and crew, on the 10 1/2 hour flight, which used an Airbus A380 plane.
The police did not say why the man received medical attention upon landing, but another British Airways employee accused him of being on drugs in an interview with the Sun.
“We think the guy popped pills when he was meant to be working. It is an extraordinary thing to do. The plane was cruising at 37,000 feet over the Atlantic, but this bloke seemed to be higher than anyone else,” the unnamed worker told the popular Fleet Street tabloid.
“It is a crazy way to end your BA career. This job can do ridiculous things to people, but staging a one-man disco in a Club World toilet is a new one on me,” the employee said.
