


America hasn’t just been asleep at the wheel on China’s threats. America’s actually “created a monster,” according to one expert on China policy.
“Basically, [America waged] a 40-year bet that if we just engaged with Beijing, if we traded with them, if we looked the other way on their human rights offenses … that somehow they would evolve into a non-threatening power. And it’s been a total failure,” said Bill Gertz, a national security correspondent for The Washington Times and a best-selling author who recently penned, “Deceiving the Sky: Inside Communist China’s Drive for Global Supremacy.”
And now the situation for the world’s free societies is “not very good,” he said.
The incoming Donald Trump administration has its work cut out for it.
