NextImg:Biden, Trump tied in new poll with 37%

President Biden and former President Donald Trump are tied with 37% of voter support, according to a new poll.

A Suffolk University/USA TODAY poll shows that both candidates received nearly the same percentage of voters, with Mr. Biden having support from 366 voters and Mr. Trump with 365, in a hypothetical four-way race between them and independents Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West.

Mr. Kennedy, who recently made the switch from the Democratic ballot to independent, got 13% of the vote, and Mr. West, who also started out as a Democrat before switching to independent, got 4%. Another 8% of respondents said they were undecided and 2% refused to answer.

For Republican voters, 58% said they would vote for the former president if their state’s primary/caucus were held today. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis grabbed 12% of voters and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is creeping close to Mr. DeSantis with 11%.

Among Democrats, 73% said they would choose Mr. Biden if their state’s primary/caucus were today. Another 15% were undecided and 11% were leaning towards candidate Marianne Williamson.

A plurality of voters, at 41%, said they would not seriously consider voting for a third-party candidate. But 26% said they would consider voting for a third-party candidate, 23% said it would depend on who was nominated, 9% were undecided and 1% refused to answer.

Slightly more voters found the Republican Party to be unfavorable at 52%, than the Democratic Party with 51%.

The poll surveyed 1,000 U.S. registered voters between Oct. 17-20 by live phone interview. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
