President Biden will sit down for his first television interview since last week’s disastrous debate performance against former President Trump, ABC News announced Tuesday.
Mr. Biden will speak with “Good Morning America” anchor George Stephanopoulos for an interview that will air on the Friday edition of “World News Tonight with David Muir.”
Portions of the interview will air Saturday and Sunday on “Good Morning America,” ABC said.
The full interview will air Sunday on “This Week” and Monday’s episode of “Good Morning America.”
ABC did not preview questions or say how long the interview would last.
The Biden campaign is desperately trying to limit the fallout after his meandering, sometimes incoherent, debate answers raised questions about his mental acuity.
On Tuesday, Rep. Lloyd Doggett, Texas Democrat, became the first elected member of Mr. Biden’s party to call for him to withdraw as the nominee.
Mr. Stephanopoulos is the former adviser and communications director for President Clinton.
ABC is slated to hold the second presidential debate between Mr. Biden and former President Trump in September.
