President Biden on Thursday came out swinging against a scathing report by special counsel Robert Hur, which raised some serious questions about his memory.
“I know what the hell I’m doing. I’m the president and I put this country back on its feet. I don’t need his recommendation,” the president said in a combative press conference.
“My memory is fine,” Mr. Biden said, going on to allude to his legislative accomplishments in rebuttal.
“Take a look at what I’ve done since I’ve become president. None of the things I could pass any of the things I got passed. How did that happen? I guess I just forgot what was going on,” he said.
Mr. Biden took particular umbrage to Mr. Hur’s claim that he couldn’t remember “within a few years” when his son Beau died.
“How in the hell dare he raise that,” Mr. Biden said, claiming that he was reacting to the perceived inappropriateness of the question.
“Frankly, that’s the question, I thought to myself, that’s none of their damn business,” he said.
He also specifically lashed out at a Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, saying sarcastically that his memory must have been bad if he had let speak a reporter from the conservative-leaning network.
