The Biden campaign is making a pivot to temporarily stop campaign ads and communications “as quickly as possible” following an apparent assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
“The Biden campaign is pausing all outbound communications and working to pull down our television ads as quickly as possible,” a Biden campaign official told ABC News.
The campaign’s play at halting ads comes shortly after President Biden’s statement condemning the violent scene at Mr. Trump’s campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
“I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information,” Mr. Biden said. “Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”
