NextImg:Beyonce set to perform at Harris’ Houston rally

Beyonce is expected to join Vice President Kamala Harris at Friday’s rally in Houston, making her the latest music megastar to join forces with the Democratic nominee.

The singer’s support follows a Harris endorsement from the other female titan of the pop world — Taylor Swift — and campaign appearances from Bruce Springsteen and Eminem.

The Washington Post first reported Beyonce’s planned appearance.

Former President Donald Trump is expected to win Texas by a wide margin on Election Day. But it’s home to a competitive Senate race between Ted Cruz, the Republican incumbent, and Democratic Rep. Colin Allred, a former pro football player seeking a massive upset.

Beyonce has been a fixture of the music landscape for over two decades and won more Grammy awards — 32 — than any other person.

She is from Houston, and one of her hits, “Freedom,” has become a theme song for Ms. Harris on the campaign trail. The singer isn’t a big player in politics but did perform at former President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2013 and one of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign rallies in 2016.

Mr. Trump is also scheduled to visit Texas on Friday to tape an interview with Joe Rogan, a podcaster with a large audience of young men.

The former president’s celebrity backers include Hulk Hogan, Kid Rock and Danica Patrick.
