NEWS AND OPINION:

The debate between former President Donald Trump and President Biden was a red-letter date for news media and public alike. Now get ready for another red-letter date.

“In less than 20 days, upwards of 50,000 delegates, officials, guests, and members of the media will flock to Milwaukee for the 2024 Republican National Convention,” reports the event’s Committee on Arrangements.

Indeed, the influential four-day gathering begins July 15 — and the locals are, well, raring to go.

“In the weeks leading up to the 2024 Convention, local businesses have underscored their excitement about the major event. With the estimated $200 million economic impact of the convention already spilling into local businesses, even more opportunities are on the horizon when guests hit the ground,” the committee said in a written statement shared with Inside the Beltway.

It also offered a few examples of the growing excitement in the city, noting, for example, that the California delegation will include “at minimum” 169 people, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

In addition some 2,000 bars of “Uncle Sam” handmade specialty soap are being readied for gift bags destined for lucky delegates, noted WTMJ-TV, a local NBC affiliate.

A GOLDEN UPDATE

Here’s some news for longtime listeners of the daily radio show hosted by the late Rush Limbaugh — a compelling production that drew 30 million listeners a week at its peak.

James Golden — the longtime show producer and contributor who went by the on-air name “Bo Snerdley” — is on the airwaves during the week and now on weekends, courtesy of Red Apple Audio Networks — owners of WABC, a powerhouse radio station in New York City.

The network is also home to agile radio shows hosted by commentators Larry Kudlow and Lou Dobbs, best-selling authors Rita Cosby and Judge Jeanine Pirro, conservative TV anchor Greg Kelly, Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa, and billionaire businessman John Catsimatidis.

Meanwhile, here’s how to visit with Mr. Golden.

Jim Jones, who is in charge of affiliate relations for the network, says “the best way for folks around the country to tune in is via the flagship station, WABC-AM.” The show streams at WABCradio.com from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET on Saturdays.

NIGHTSTAND READING

The possibility of noncitizens voting in U.S. elections is a big concern of House Speaker Mike Johnson. His office released new research Thursday titled “To Restore Confidence in U.S. Elections, Congress Must Pass the SAVE Act.”

The 21-page report highlights the threat of foreign interference in U.S. elections posed by the issue of noncitizen voting.

“As the 2024 election nears, it is imperative that Congress does everything within our power to protect the integrity of our nation’s election system. Despite the false claims from Democrats and the media, the issue of noncitizens voting in federal elections poses a clear threat to our system, especially considering that the Biden Administration has released millions of illegal aliens into our country since taking office,” Mr. Johnson said in a statement shared with Inside the Beltway.

“Our report highlights the ease with which illegal aliens can register and vote in U.S. elections, including in every single battleground state. If Congressional Democrats are serious about removing the threat of foreign interference in our elections, they will join us in supporting the SAVE Act,” he said.

“Lax voter registration laws make it possible for noncitizens to register and vote in federal elections while campaign finance loopholes allow non-citizens to fund U.S. election activities – both of which can affect the outcome of our elections. There is ample evidence that noncitizens are voting in U.S. elections,” noted a summary of the findings.

“A 2014 study that analyzed the 2008 and 2010 elections concluded that not only had noncitizens illegally voted in U.S. elections but that the votes of noncitizens likely determined the outcome in certain races. In states like Massachusetts, Ohio, and Virginia, noncitizens have recently been removed from the voting rolls – and many of those noncitizens had voted,” the summary said.

Curious? The complete report can be found here at Mr. Johnson’s House site..
