“Ronald Reagan” is backing Donald Trump.
Actor Dennis Quaid, who plays America’s 40th president in an upcoming movie, said this week he would vote to re-elect Mr. Trump in large part because of the “weaponization of our justice system.”
On an episode of “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Mr. Quaid said that he generally liked Mr. Trump’s policies when president but was on the fence about voting for him because of his style and personality — “please don’t say that,” Mr. Quaid recalled thinking about him.
But the criminal trial against Mr. Trump in New York, in the jury’s hands Wednesday afternoon, decided the matter.
“I was ready not to vote for Trump until — what I saw is more than politics. I see a weaponization of our justice system, and a challenge to our Constitution,” Mr. Quaid said.
Now, “I think I’m gonna vote for him.”
The actor said Mr. Trump was investigated to the hilt, but “they haven’t been able to really get him on anything,” adding that he was unsure even what crime Mr. Trump is supposed to have committed.
At the end of the day, Mr. Quaid said, “Mr. Trump stood up for us.”
“He stands up to people, and that’s what makes him a leader. People might call him an a—hole, but he’s my a—hole.”
