Police in Chino, California, recovered 14 boxes full of stolen collectible Labubu dolls worth a total of $30,000.
The Chino Police Department said Monday that its detectives were investigating the burglary of a warehouse and the theft of the figurines, made and sold by Chinese retailer Pop Mart.
Police said the investigation led them to a residence in Upland, California, where they found the stolen Labubus and a suspect, who was arrested after trying to flee the scene.
Evidence suggested that the suspect or others were prepping the Labubu plush toys for resale and shipping to other parts of the country, police said. The recovered figurines were instead returned to their rightful owners.
A second suspect was arrested Tuesday. Both suspects are minors who were working in the warehouse, police said, according to The Associated Press. The two juveniles were taken to a detention facility on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.
Chino police have not named either suspect.
