NextImg:$2 million worth of fentanyl pills intercepted after they were mistakenly sent to a house in Maine

A homeowner in Winslow, Maine, had to file a complaint with police after two packages arrived from California containing nearly 30 pounds of pills containing fentanyl.

The homeowner, unnamed by the Winslow Police Department, received the first package on May 3 and the second package on May 4. They had not ordered anything and were not expecting any deliveries, police said.

Testing of the 29.5 pounds of pills found the presence of the opioid fentanyl, and Winslow police estimate the packages were worth as much as $2 million in street value.

The investigation into the deliveries and the origin of the fentanyl pills is ongoing, Winslow Police Deputy Chief Randy Wing said in a release from the department.
