When he takes office, President-elect Donald Trump will have a border state willing to aid his plans for mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
Texas has reportedly offered the incoming administration a plot covering more than 1,400 acres as a staging area for the deportations.
According to a note sent to Mr. Trump by Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, the state is willing to provide a 1,402-acre tract in Starr County, in the Rio Grande Valley at the very southern tip of Texas, to the federal government.
The note, which was obtained by Fox News, was sent by Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham and refers to land the state purchased from a ranch owner.
Ms. Buckingham’s office is “fully prepared to enter into an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or the United States Border Patrol to allow a facility to be built for the processing, detention, and coordination of the largest deportation of violent criminals in the nation’s history,” the note states.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Ms. Buckingham said she is “100% on board with the Trump administration’s pledge to get these criminals out of our country.
“We are more than happy to offer our resources to facilitate those deportations of these violent criminals,” she said.
