“Charlie’s mission continues at @TPUSA. Honored to join them with @megynkelly in Blacksburg on Wednesday,” Youngkin posted on X Monday.

The southwest Virginia campus is the second stop on the Turning Point Tour since co-founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Sept. 10. The Virginia Tech stop was scheduled before Kirk’s murder, and he was the speaker who was initially supposed to take the stage tonight.

Since Kirk’s assassination, Erika Kirk, who succeeded her late husband as the new CEO of Turning Point USA, announced the tour would continue, and several GOP governors have hopped in line to speak. Govs. Spencer Cox (R-UT), Greg Gianforte (R-MT), and Jeff Landry (R-LA) are each set to appear at “This is The Turning Point” tour stops in the coming weeks.

Youngkin has taken several public measures to honor Kirk and his family, calling for a statewide moment of prayer and reflection following Kirk’s death and ordering the state’s flags to be lowered to half-staff for five days in his honor. He also joined Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in calling for the resignation of a Chesterfield County school board member who made a derogatory post about Kirk’s death.

“As Charlie Kirk is laid to rest, Suzanne and I are lifting up in prayer his wife Erika, Charlie’s two young children, and the millions and millions of Americans mourning the loss of this inspiring life stolen from all of us,” Youngkin posted on X the day of Kirk’s funeral. “Charlie’s unwavering devotion to Christ and to the betterment of our great country is a legacy that will never perish.”

Turning Point USA hosted its first tour stop on Monday night in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Virginia Tech issued security measures for Wednesday’s indoor event, including a no-bag policy, a no-camera policy, and magnetometer security screeners.
