Members of the Writers Guild of America protested outside an ABC studio where The View is filmed prior to the live broadcast Monday.

The demonstration happened between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. Footage of the event posted to social media showed at least a dozen protesters picketing outside the studio.

In addition to WGA members, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan joined the demonstration, according to the Writers Guild of America East.

The View has continued to air new episodes since the writers strike started on May 2. Whoopi Goldberg has said the hosts "support our writers because we know what they’re going through."

"We did the show anyway because we want to keep everybody employed, and we want to do our best," Goldberg explained. The daytime talk show took an extended break for the Independence Day holiday but returned to live broadcasts on Monday.

In an announcement to guild members on May 1, WGA said it had "not reached an agreement with the studios and streamers." WGA has spent six weeks "negotiating with Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney, Discovery-Warner, NBC Universal, Paramount and Sony under the umbrella of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP)."

The Washington Examiner contacted the Writers Guild of America East for comment.
