

FBI Director Christopher Wray defended his agency’s investigation into former President Donald Trump's handling of classified documents and search of his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
While House Republicans have pointed at the FBI raiding Trump’s residence as a sign of weaponization against Republicans, Wray defended his agency's actions.

Wray was asked if Trump storing classified documents in areas scattered across his residence was a proper way to handle the documents.
“There are specific rules about where to store classified information, and those need to be stored in a SCIF,” Wray said. “In my experience, ballrooms, bathrooms, and bedrooms are not SCIFs.”

Trump was charged with 37 felony counts in relation to his handling of classified documents. A special counsel appointed by the Department of Justice led the investigation, but the FBI was the agency that carried out the search at Trump’s residence in Florida.
